Life and Death in Har Nof: A First-Hand Account

yicara weiskoffI wrote the following yesterday, during the “lock-down” in Har Nof, during and after the massacre, while we were waiting to be able to leave our bulding – ie. waiting for the search copters to stop circling and leave.  It WAS on my [Facebook] Timeline, then wasn’t for some reason. So, as per request of some people I’d messaged it to, I’m posting it again.  It follows.

Dear Family and Friends,

I feel compelled to write this to you.

Terrorists killed 5 men and injured 13 more, some critically, in our neighborhood about an hour ago. During our morning prayer services, 2 or 3 Palestinian extremists, ie. terrorists, entered a shul/synagogue where my husband davens/prays regularly. They had knives, axes, and guns. They began stabbing and hacking, then shooting the daveners. Police arrived quickly, and shot 2 of the terrorists in a gunfight. Helicopters are still circling around our neighborhood, which indicates that the other terrorist, or additional terrorists, may still be on the loose here. Read the rest of this entry »

Six More Rockets Pound Israel, Shaking Cease-Fire Resolve

There is a miserable AP headline this morning. CBC picked it up, and then it got to Google News.

Israeli aircraft strike targets in Gaza Strip
Egyptian-brokered ceasefire in the area has mainly held

What garbage! Here’s a correction:

Israel Responds to Gaza Rockets
six more rockets pound Israel, shaking ceasefire resolve

Quite a bit more accurate.

Itamar Murderers Arrested

A month after members of Fogel family — parents Udi (36) and Ruth (35), and their children Yoav (11), Elad (4) and Hadas (3 months) — were brutally murdered in their home in Itamar while they were sleeping, the Commander of IDF forces overseeing the Shomron Regional Brigade, to which Itamar belongs, has announced that the IDF has caught two of the killers in the nearby “Palestinian” village of Awarta.

Col. Nimrod Aloni also stated that the motivation of terror groups in the West Bank to execute attacks against Israeli civilians is still high.

Video From Rabbi and Mrs. Moshe Goldsmith, First Family of Itamar

Rabbi and Mrs. Moshe Goldsmith are the Mayor and First Lady of Itamar.  In this heartfelt video, they express their gratitude for the support of the Jewish community around the world in the wake of the horrific murders.  They discuss their plans to enhance security in Itamar, including acquiring security cameras and fences.

The recent terrorist murders in Itamar of Rabbi Ehud and Ruth Fogel and three of their young children make us realize we here in the USA must strengthen the Itamar community and support the three surviving Fogel children.

To learn more about how you can help the city of Itamar, visit Friends of Itamar.  To contribute financial support to the surviving Fogel children and other innocent victims of terrorism in Israel, please visit OU’s Fund for the Victims of Terror.

Teen Injured in Hamas School Bus Bombing

hamas fires missile at school bus in the NegevHamas continued its life of crime today, targeting a school bus in a missile attack. The missile was shot from the Gaza Strip and directly hit a school bus outside Kibbutz Sa’ad, in the Negev, injuring two people.

A 16-year-old student is in critical condition after paramedics managed to resuscitate him. He was air-lifted to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva, where he is undergoing surgery. Soroka officials say that he is suffering from head injuries. The bus driver is listed in light condition after being hit in the leg. Fortunately, all the other students had left the bus shortly before, so these were the only two people on the bus when the missile struck.

Forty-five rockets and mortar shells were fired into Israel from the Gaza Strip in the span of three hours on Thursday afternoon. Read the rest of this entry »

Remember to Forget Amalek

Hadassah Hospital, surdeon Josh Sofer

Surgeon Josh Sofer works on a victim at Hadassah Hospital

Even with Haman and his ten sons hanged, his spiritual descendants reappeared today to murder more innocents, this time by blowing up a bus stop in Jerusalem.  One person dead, and over fifty more are being treated in Jerusalem hospitals.

We were still reeling from the bloodthirsty murders in Itamar last Sabbath, where the Fogel family lost both parents and three of their beautiful young children.

The Scene of the Crime

A reminder:  Express your support of Israel’s victims of terror by demanding that our elected officials condemn these murders, even as Arabs in Gaza celebrate in the streets and pass out candies.  And donate to the OU’s Victims of Terrorism Fund.

May the upcoming Pesach holiday bring bring a much needed peace to the entire Jewish community and may the families of the martyred be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Get Into the Light and Stand in It

Whether or not you can stand Glenn Beck’s domestic politics, he is one of the few American media outlets to cover what’s actually going on in Israel. Check out this video. Whenever Jewish children are the victims of premeditated murder by Arabs, most media outlets ignore it; there is no coverage. If the crime is so prominent that it can’t be covered up, some (like CNN) consistently try to blame the victims, while others attempt to justify as “natural” the private and public celebrations of the majority of Arabs in Gaza and elsewhere. These mainstream outlets distort the news to suggest that there is some sort of “escalating cycle of violence,” as though there were a moral equality between the Israelis, who mourn accidental collateral damage, and the majority in Gaza, who pass out celebratory candies in the streets with news of each premeditated murder. Compare these videos and see just how differently the same “news” can be fed to you!

Chanukah Firestorm

Fire in the Carmel Forest

Fire in the Carmel Forest

A fire raging out of control in the north of Israel has killed 43 people so far.  Most of the dead were prison guards whose bus was caught in the flames as they tried to reach a nearby jail to help evacuate it.  Five million trees have been destroyed in the Carmel National Forest — Israel’s only natural forest and an ecological treasure.  About a third of the forest has been destroyed.  Forest rangers have evacuated animals from the inferno.

All 1,400 Israeli firefighters (yes, every firefighter in the country) have been deployed near Carmel, and parts of Haifa have been evacuated.  The supplies of fire extinguishing agent have been exhausted.  Israel has asked for help from the international community.  So far, the following countries are helping:  Britain, France, Romania, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, and Russia.  All are sending supplies.  It is particularly touching that financially impoverished Greece and recently cool Turkey are helping. Socially Progressive Terrorist’s Latest Casualty is CNN’s Senior Editor

Nasr and Fadlallah

Nasr and Fadlallah

I hate to tweak Thomas L. Friedman, whose experience and readership dwarfs Jewish Jihad’s by about a million to one, but his published defense of the recently fired CNN senior editor of Middle East affairs, Octavia Nasr, is off base.

Nasir was fired for tweeting “Sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah.” Fadlallah, a prominent Lebanese Shiite spiritual leader, was involved in the founding of Hezbollah. He hated Israel and supported terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians. Nasr described him as “one of Hezbollah’s giants I respect a lot.”

The only fault Friedman finds in Nasr’s tweets is that “reporters covering a beat should not be issuing condolences for any of the actors they cover. It undermines their credibility.”

But reporters do this all the time. Tributes after the deaths of “covered actors” are the norm, from Ted Kennedy to Michael Jackson. They demonstrate our values.

Perhaps Nadr was enamored of Fadlallah because, unlike most other terrorists, Fadlallah argued in favor of equal rights and education for women, and against domestic violence. Or maybe because, although he opposed the U.S., he also opposed obedience to Iran. Read the rest of this entry »

Your YouTube Away From YouTube: The Three Terrors

I hate to waste bandwidth duplicating other sites’ contents, but YouTube’s nasty habit of deleting pro-Israel videos leads me to post this video here to preserve it. The Three Terrors (a parody of The Three Tenors) isn’t as well done as the “We Con the World” video that YouTube recently took down (still preserved here at Jewish Jihad — see two posts ago). Nevertheless, The Three Terrors doesn’t deserve to be deleted by the “Censors of Zion.”  So here it is and here it will remain: Read the rest of this entry »
