The Country Should be Punished for Electing Him

Top Republicans say the government shutdown was at least a small victory.  Thanks to the shutdown, nobody is thinking about fixing the sequester — once called going over the cliff.  So those blind cuts continue.

The Republicans have made some progress in breaking the country. That is the actual goal of these fascists when they are not in power. That has been one of their ways of gaining power internationally as well, sowing chaos, economic stress, and division, whenever they are not on top.

And to be kept out by a black guy really pisses them off.  The country is to be punished for electing him.

France Deserves to Be Punished Too!

On Friday Standard & Poor’s downgraded France’s bonds because France has succeeded beautifully in reducing its budget deficit!!! French borrowing costs, which are near historic lows, didn’t budge in response to S&P’s pronouncement.

The market knows that France is in good shape, regardless of what the financial industry’s spokespeople say. Just one more black-eye for the fascism-proponents at Standard & Poor’s.

In a recession, temporary tax hikes do much less damage than spending cuts. France cut its budget beautifully, simply by taxing a bit more. But the fascists say: never mind the budget numbers, where are the tax cuts and deregulation (which the fascists call “structural reform”)?

In Europe, as in America, the fascists (politely called “fiscal scolds” by Paul Krugman) don’t really care about deficits. They’re fueling debt fears to advance an ideological agenda: dismantling the safety net. France, which refuses to play along, has become the target of incessant negative propaganda.

Here in the USA, “fiscal scolds” are more interested in slashing Medicare and Social Security than in actually cutting deficits. Europe has plenty of rich fascists too. France has committed the unforgivable sin of being fiscally responsible without inflicting pain on the poor and unlucky. It must be punished.

While Democrats work to get more people to vote, Republicans work to ensure those votes won’t count.
